Transource Energy, a partnership between American Electric Power and Evergy, plans to build approximately 40 miles of 345-kilovolt transmission line between the Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) Mathewson Substation in Piedmont and the OG&E Redbud Energy Facility in Luther, Oklahoma.
The Southwest Power Pool (SPP), the regional transmission operator who oversees and monitors the power grid across 14 states, mandated this project to relieve congestion on the power grid in and around Oklahoma City. After considering several alternative projects, SPP awarded this project to Transource through a competitive proposal process involving other transmission service providers.

We want to keep the community informed as the Mathewson-Redbud Transmission Line Project continues to progress. At this time, the schedule for filing the Certificate of Authority (COA) application with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission has been extended.
A final transmission line route has not yet been determined. The project team continues to review community feedback, environmental considerations and local area information to help identify a preferred route.
Taking this additional time allows us to thoughtfully consider input from landowners, stakeholders and the broader community as we work toward a well-informed decision.
We appreciate your continued interest and engagement and will share updates as more information becomes available.
